GOING FURTHER: GENESIS FUGIO

Our 650B gravel and trail crusher, the Fugio is a bike that begs to be taken off-road and ridden to its limit.

First prototyped back in 2012, the original Fugio was a cyclo-cross race bike made from Reynolds 853, with 700c wheels.

In 2018 we revived the name and a new form of Fugio was born. This was the first in a new generation of bikes with 650B wheels and wide 47mm tyres. However, what started as a road-plus bike, with the associated double chainset, has now become an off-road first machine.

That means you’ll find a single chainring, wide-range mountain bike cassette and even dropper post routing on a bike that is very different in character to our Croix de Fer. If you want to find out more, then you’ll also want to check out our feature on the differences between our three most-popular gravel models, here.

Our latest Fugio range holds three builds and a frameset for those who want to go the custom-build route. The full builds come in aluminium, Mjolnir steel and Reynolds 725 steel variants.

One thing every Fugio frame has in common is the lifetime warranty. This is a bike which is built to last, and we’re proud to support our customers and stand behind that.

Further shared features include mounting points, with every Fugio compatible with racks and mudguards and a plethora of mounts for bottles, bags and anything cages.

A full carbon fork also features, as do tubeless compatible rims and 47mm tyres, with valves supplied and only a dash of your favourite sealant required.

What follows is a run-through of our latest models, with the highlights and updates given special attention.

Fugio 30
£2999.99
Weight: 10.92kg (size medium, no pedals)
Frame material: Reynolds 725
Clearance: 650B 47mm, 700c 40mm
Full spec sheet

Our top of the line Fugio is dressed to impress, from the tubeset to the paintwork and the groupset.

Our flagship features a Reynolds 725 frame, which is rugged and dent resistant, so ideal for the kind of terrain that you’re sure to encounter.

Matching that ambition, we’ve added a dropper post. With a flick of Shimano’s GRX lever the saddle drops by 50mm giving a little extra room to manoeuvre on tricky terrain.

Shimano’s top-tier GRX 800-series groupset features throughout, with a 40T single chainring matching to an 11-42T Shimano XT 11-speed cassette. This provides a great range of gearing, superb shifting performance and brilliant chain retention over rough terrain.

Fugio 20
£2299.99
Weight: 10.94kg (size medium, no pedals)
Frame material: Genesis Mjolnir Seamless Double-Butted Chromoly
Clearance: 650B 47mm, 700c 40mm
Full spec sheet

Featuring a beautiful purple fade, our Fugio 20 is constructed from our in-house Mjolnir Seamless Double-Butted Chromoly for that unmistakable steel feel.

Spec-wise, it’s a similar story to our Fugio 10 model with a 1X SRAM Apex groupset – with an upgrade to hydraulic disc brakes.

Again, we’ve opted to use a solid seatpost, but the same internal routing for a dropper – as featured on the 30 model – is there, should you choose to upgrade.

Fugio 10
£1599.99
Weight: 10.5kg (size medium, no pedals)
Frame material: ALX8 6066/6061-T6 double-butted aluminium
Clearance: 650B 47mm, 700c 40mm
Full spec sheet

Our all-new model brings the Fugio fun to a great price point. Made from our custom double-butted aluminium tubeset, the Fugio 10 still enjoys the same full-carbon fork as the sister models.

It also features the same brilliant geometry, plethora of mounts and tubeless-ready rims and tyres as the rest of the range.

SRAM Apex 1X gearing gives great range, with a 42T chainring matched to a 11-42T cassette, while TRP Spyre-C cable disc brakes provide assured stopping.

Fugio frameset
£1049.99
Weight: 3.24kg
Frame material: Reynolds 725
Clearance: 650B 47mm, 700c 40mm

Options. That’s what you get if you’re building your Fugio up from the ground up.

Of course we would recommend that you go all-in on gravel; 650B wheelset, your selection of 47mm tyres, 1X groupset and even a dropper post.

But we’re not building the bike, so you’ve got the option to go for 700c wheels – or even a compact double chainset and front mech.

However you build yours, we’re certain that you’ll love the fun the Fugio brings. It’s so versatile, you might even find it can be two bikes in one – with ‘guards and skinny slicks for the winter grind, and smaller wheels and bigger tyres for those dusty summer adventures.
