  1. Welcome to Genesis Adam Blythe!

    Welcome to Genesis Adam Blythe!

As a former British national champ on the road and track, Adam is no stranger to multi-discipline riding, but in retirement he’s setting his sights expanding his cycling horizons and getting stuck in with bike riding of every variety whether that’s gravel, adventure, MTB or even a few outings on the road. For anyone who doesn’t know, Adam Blythe has been one of the key characters on the British road scene for the last decade. Starting his pro career as a stagiaire with Silence-Lotto in 2009, he went on to ride for some of the biggest teams in the sport like Omego-Pharma-Lotto, BMC, Orica GreenEdge and Tinkoff, winning the British road championships with the latter in 2017. For his part, Adam is really looking forward to something different after 10 years of road racing, saying:

Sit back and enjoy the ASMR experience of taking this bare frame to full build, followed up by a shakedown ride through some of the most stunning landscapes of north Wales.THE STORY BEHIND THE BUILDNow you’ve seen the film, we thought we’d take a closer look at the choices we made for a build that could have gone in a few directions!

Our original go anywhere bike, the Croix has crossed countries, continents and been around the world since its inception in 2009. But one thing that hasn’t changed is its versatility. That made it particularly difficult to choose the type of Croix to create. W

Patrick Miette takes on the Silk Road Mountain Race

Patrick Miette’s start to 1800-kilometres of unsupported off-road adventure racing in the high mountains of Kyrgyzstan may have been disastrous, but he was determined it would not end his attempt at completing the race. Some 11-days and 29,000-metres of climbing later, Patrick would reach the finish. This is his story, from the seat of his Genesis Vagabond. After entering and finishing four editions of the Transcontinental, I decided to leave the asphalt for off-road adventures. This thirst for great outdoors scenery has naturally pushed me towards the Silk Road Mountain Race. The goal is to ride a 1800km loop in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan without any assistance. No following car, coach, doctor, refueling – I would have to handle absolutely everything I needed: food, wat

  4. What weekends are for?

    What weekends are for?

Friday, September 13Close of business on a Friday always takes a little longer to arrive when you have something exciting on the horizon. Come 4pm, I’ve already closed my laptop, changed and am poised for action, waiting for the start gun like an olympic sprinter. My preferred mode of transport is the Genesis Croix de Fer 20 bike—it’s currently packed away in a box the size of the Dordogne (incidentally where I happen to be going this weekend with a small group of friends) and I’m mildly concerned about how I’m going to get it onto the plane: RyanAir isn’t known for it’s generous luggage allowance, after all.

    Alaska - Patagonia complete!

We did it!On August 28, 2019 around 5pm, after 28,743 kilometres and 812 days on the road from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, we arrived in front of this sign. A very small sign in relation to these two huge years and three months of our journey. We made it to Ushuaia.Nothing made more sense at this moment than these words: "it is not the destination that matters but the journey". Our last kilometres were filled with the faces, smells, sensations, colours of our adventure. On June 14, 2017 we began our journey with the will to pedal all of America, go through remote paths, learn, understand, share and marvel always more of the great everything around us. The American continent has a heavy, tragic, powerful, fragile story too. Its geography

Croix de Fer. A decade of Great British Adventure

“Drop bars don’t always mean tarmac. ‘Normal riding’ shouldn’t be a definition of accepted limits.”That’s the description we gave the original Croix de Fer back in 2009. At the time, we weren’t sure if people would get it, so we hedged slightly, labelling it as a cross bike in the truest sense of the word. Capable on and off road and with disc brakes, it was our take on a bike that could go further… but we never imagined quite how much further. The original Genesis Croix de Fer from 2009 - things have moved on a bit since then! One year later Vin Cox set off from The Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London. Some 163 days and 18,000 miles later, he returned a world record breaker. The Croix de Fer was breaking records for us, too. It t

AlaskaPatagonia – A journey in a life quest

Author: Jérémy Vaugeois of Alaska-patagonie.comTuesday, January 1st of 2019 (Jérémy’s diary)“Today we rub shoulders with gods. Breath physically taken away. Emotions are pushed to their summits. The tears running down my enlightened face are pure. Never in my life before has Nature offered me such a beautiful time. I feel naked in front of her. She understands me as I understand her.”We have just reached the Punta Olímpica pass by the old route in the Cordillera Blanca of Peru and tears of joy express some of the purest emotions we’ve ever had. Our GPS says that we stand at 4913 meters elevation. A few days before we were in Chuquicara village just 500 meters high and riding by the Tablachaca and Pato’s canyons from Northern Peru to the Huaraz valley. In those few days we cycled 260 kilometers and gained clo

  10. Two new Volare framesets

    Two new Volare framesets

The Italian word ‘Volare’ translates into English as ‘to fly’ so it’s rather fitting that our latest stock drop came complete with the first batch of brand new 2020 Volare framesets that we’re excited to be able to release to you a little earlier than anticipated. The Volare was the result of the challenge of creating a steel race bike to compete with the modern-day carbon superbikes, and guess what... it holds its own and then some. Now with 6 years of refining and development we have a purebred steel bike that will take on any carbon rival. For 2018 we were able to marry the latest technologies to bring to the market, disc brake specific models with thru-axles. To say we were over the moon when the Volare 853 Disc model went to take Road.cc’s ‘Frameset of the year’ award is an understatement! With just the Volare disc framesets available though we did feel there was a gap i

'Cycle Touring, it’s Anyone’s Game' by Harry Morris of ridingcontinents.com. Missed part one 'The man who quit his job and escaped'? Read it here I’m climbing, looking back over my shoulder I catch the final glimpses of Afghanistan as I make my way deeper into the mountains of Tajikistan along the famed Pamir Highway (otherwise known as the M41). This section of my journey is perhaps the most highly anticipated and I’ve been day-dreaming of reaching the lofty heights of the world’s highest plateau for years as I plotted my imaginary route around the globe. I’m six months into a year long cycle tour where I hope to reach all seven continents and I now actually find myself climbing to the ‘Roof of the World’.

  16. Genesis Bicycle Club : 8 Questions with Kerry MacPhee

Genesis Bicycle Club : 8 Questions with Kerry MacPhee

Let’s start with an introduction – who are you, what do you do and where are you from? My name is Kerry MacPhee and I’m a cross–country mountain biker! I come from a very wee island called South Uist in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland and left when I was 18 to go to university in Stirling where I’ve been based ever since. When I’m not racing or training I work for Lewis Wind Power  (EDF-Renewables & Wood) on a wind farm project on the Isle of Lewis. I fly up for 2 or 3 days a week and work 1 day in Edinburgh. As a contracted worker, it does give me flexibility to take days off around racing and I work my training into my schedule somehow too.   How long have you been riding bikes – where did you get started? I’ve been racing on the dirt just short of 5 years now. I was into every sport and competed in cross-country running and basketball

  17. Genesis Bicycle Club : British Adventure Collective | Breaking Borders

Genesis Bicycle Club : British Adventure Collective | Breaking Borders

Aaron Rolph and Paul Guest cycled around 1800km in 7 days to visit 14 countries to break the official Guinness World Record. In his own words Aaron kindly looks back and recounts the key moments of this record breaking ride. Who grew up in the UK in the 90s and didn’t watch BBC’s Record Breakers right? After browsing Guinness’ catalogue of impressive World records, I began to research how feasible breaking the existing record of visiting 13 countries by bicycle in 7 days might be…   After more hours on Strava and Google Maps than I care to remember, we had our provisional route all mapped out. After our fifth train pulled into the remote southern tip of Poland, we were ready to make history ... except it was raining hard and bloody freezing. Unfortunately, the summer had flown by and we were now entering November with the uncertainty of Brexit in full swing, this may have been our only chance to do this

Bike Check : Connor Swift's National Champs Winning Zero SL

If you haven't seen it already then click here and check out one of the most impressive rides we've seen in a good long while. Made all the sweeter by the fact that it was our very own Madison Genesis rider Connor Swift at the National Championships! His solo victory in Northumberland is the biggest win of his (young) career and you can be sure he'll wear the national jersey with pride. Enough about the rider though, what about the bike? Before being washed, cleaned and prepp'd for the next race we snuck it out of the team truck and whipped it into our photo studio for a few pictures.

Genesis Bicycle Club : Harry Morris | Riding Continents

The man who quit his job and escaped by Harry Morris of ridingcontinents.com On the whole I find my life day to day, week by week pretty bloody dull; five days out of seven I sit at a desk or stand looking out of a window, literally, I’m a weatherman. Those two days at the weekend I really pride my self on making the most of them; mountain biking, climbing, running, long weekends in Europe and obviously drinking ample amounts. On a greater scale, as a prolific holiday slash adventure goer, annually I probably go on three decent trips call it five weeks in 52; which is a luxury I can afford to take as I’m single and have no ties at home... I’m privileged to manage so much time away. Over the last few years I’ve toured down the Dalmatian coast, swam between two continents in the Silfra Fisher, Iceland and white water rafted down the mighty Zambezi from Victoria

Custom Build : Volare 931 Disc 'Nonconformist'

This one stopped us in our tracks... an incredible finish from Doktorbobby of Colourburn Studio on a Volare 931 Disc. You may remember the name of Doktorbobby from when we teamed up last year to create a custom colourway for Podia Roadventures, but this new design (called 'Nonconformist') is one of the House Finishes that will be on offer for a set price on the Colourburn Studio website. Enough from us though, we'll leave you to scroll down and marvel at this beauty but make sure you read on to find out a little more from the man himself. Photos courtesy of Josh Lawson

  21. What's the ultimate do it all bike?

What's the ultimate do it all bike?

A bike that can truly do it all – it’s this concept that has inspired us here at Genesis for many years – and the reality is closer now than ever before!

The arrival of quality hydraulic disc brakes for drop bars, wider gearing combinations than ever and increased tyre clearance have all influenced how we plan our rides.  However, as the breadth of what modern, drop bar bikes are capable of increases, so the gaps in-between become ever smaller. Today, getting the right bike for the terrain you’ll be taking on is a trickier question than ever.  With that in mind we thought we could run down our three most popular models, highlighting the similarities and differences and helping you make the right choice first time.

The only disclaimer? There is always justification for N+1!

Genesis Bicycle Club : Alex Staniforth | Climb The UK (Part One)

CLIMB THE UK – a record-breaking 5,000-mile journey to climb the highest points of all 100 UK counties in 72 days on two wheels, two feet and a kayak. 6:00am. Rain is lashing down. Wind rattles the tent. It’s forecast for the whole day. I have one hundred miles to cycle and two counties to climb. But it’s day seventy and I can’t fall behind now. Besides, I had already come through worse – I just have to keep moving forward. After four months of planning it all began on Shining Tor, the highest point of Cheshire. The top of my home county was a gentle start but the surprise of flags, balloons and friends gathered on the summit made for a memorable send-off. Back at the car park, I couldn’t find the words as I pedalled off towards Edale and left my family waving in the distance. Now it was just me, the bike, and one epic mission. I’d only met the Genesis Tour De Fer 10 a week prior, and the sturdy frame of my first ever touring

Genesis 2018 // Reynolds Part Two: Materials

The way a bicycle rides and feels is much to do with the frame and how it’s constructed. Each steel variant has its certain characteristics and as with all the materials we use, it’s not just about the quality of the raw product, but the way in which the jigsaw is put together. Here's our breakdown of the Reynolds tubing you'll find in the 2018 range. Missed our Q&A with Keith Noronha (the man, the myth, the legend, MD and all round nice guy at Reynolds Steel)? Check it out here. REYNOLDS 931 (1200-1350 MPa)

    Genesis 2018 // Reynolds Part One: Q&A

We're proud to say that Reynolds has played a major part in how our bikes and ranges have developed over time. For nearly 10 years we've worked closely with their engineers to utilse beautiful and high-functioning tubesets that have made bikes like the Croix de Fer and Volare possible. We spoke to Keith Noronha, the man, the myth, the legend, MD and all round nice guy at Reynolds Steel and pitched some questions to him. Here is what he had to say... How long have you worked at Reynolds? Around 29 years, initially involved when TI Group PLC owned Reynolds.
