The people have spoken!! We showed a prototype version of this bike on our blog in Summer 2011 just to show the concept, we put some special Howies decals on it and sent it over to our friends in Wales to ride around on and enjoy. At that time we had no intention of ranging this bike. However that single blog piece generated a huge level of interest and had Genesis fans literally begging us to make this bike and so we did make it! It’s quite simple really, a disc specific singlespeed version of our Day 1 Cross bike.
Here is the original blog piece that created such a stir: http://www.genesisbikes.co.uk/blog/29/06/11/day-one-cross-disc-for-howies
Anyway, the moral of the story is we listen to our customers and followers of our brand. Please DO keep your eyes on our blog and add your comments to anything that interests you, let us know your thoughts, whether they be good or bad, they are always appreciated.
For those of you who were begging us to put this bike into production, rush to your nearest Genesis dealer and tell them to get one ordered for you. Stock is due early April
Anyway, here's what I think this bike is about:
Lovely clean lines and the perfect bike for a 2 hour Sunday blast down bridleways, woodland trails and country lanes. Singlespeed, well you either get it or you don’t, we at Genesis definitely do get it and there is no purer way to ride. It may not be the bike you ride day in day out, but in the dark winter months you’ll find yourself pulling this bike out the shed time and time again. No fuss, no maintenance, just enjoy the ride for what it is.
Are you sick of just riding easily and effortlessly through your local singletrack on your front suspended hardtail or even your Sunday best full suspension bike? Well, try riding this bike down those same trails and make it challenging again, have fun and once again realise the simple childhood pleasure of just riding bikes in the woods.

Very very nice but why so expensive when you get the CdF with gears for £100 more (and could always strip off the gears and put a tensioner on or find the magic gear, with the option of going back to gears in the future)Will Turner said

I have the flat bar version, and now i want this one so badly!!! Great job guys! Anyway. You said you wanted to know our thoughts and my thought is, that I would love to see this bike in a dark-greyish/black color scale. For me this bike is the perfect urban bike because of it's ability to deal with the rough challenges that a city can provide, and ride both on tarmac, gravel and dirt. Because of this, I think that a dark-greyish/black color would match the urban environment perfectly. Cheers Marcus from DenmarkMarcus said

This looks amazing. Any chance you'll be doing a frame only option? I already have a similar setup but I'd trade my frame in for this if it was available.Chris Borneo said

Awesome, this is exactly the bike that I am looking for at the moment. Is there a way that I can get one of these in Australia?Tom said

Chris, Sorry - I'm afraid its only going to be available as a fully built bike, in the spec shown. Worth dropping down to your local Genesis Dealer though once the bikes have reached the shops ... just in case extra persuasion required with the bike in front of you ;)Chris@Genesis said

Perfect! A welcome improvement on the Day 01 drop that I already have - with worn-out rims through regular off-road use. Discs will solve that problem, Tried to order a 60cm this morning, but apparently it's only coming in 52-54-56-58cm initially. Will there eventually be a 60cm, and if so, when?Dave Palk said

Dave - We do have 60cm bikes due. We anticipate the first drop of all sizes in April. I’d suggest visiting your dealer armed with this information, the product is live on our system so orders can be placed in the immediately. John - Ti Equilibrium will be available Aug/September. Like Dave, I badly want a 60. As of this morning, the product is not live on your system. There's definitely only 52 to 58 showing on Madison B2B available to pre-order, so it's not currently possible to order a 60. I've tried lots of different ways of searching, including part number GN21060, but only the 52-58 ever show. I've phoned Madison telesales, and they can't help. Potential customers will order something else instead. You're missing out on sales! Get the 60 listed on B2B, please!!! John PiggottKeith Piggott-Morris said

Hi guys, we have figured out the issue why the 60cm is not showing on Madison B2B/B2C. Problem solved now. Will be showing from the end of today. Dom@GenesisDom@Genesis said

I was one of the throng asking for this bike to be produced. It looks good, and I'd be tempted for my next C2W bike but not for that price, sorry.A tad expensive... said

Will your bikes be available in the United States? Your Day One looks like a bike I would like to ride.Mel S said
