Adventurer, environmental campaigner, filmmaker and of course Genesis Vagabond and Croix de Fer rider, Joffrey Maluski is most at home on the bike.  We caught up with the multi-faceted Frenchman to talk about his most recent adventures, bikepacking essentials and tips based on his extensive experiences. Three months and 3000km bikepacking across the volcanos and rivers of Iceland! That's Joffrey Maluski's latest challenge as he takes his Vagabond across the most remote areas of the Icelandic Highlands.

When it comes to highlighting the climate emergency, our friend Joffrey Maluski could have chosen to superglue himself to a busy road… but instead, he had the infinitely more sensible idea of building a raft out of 600 plastic bottles.He then grabbed his Genesis Vagabond and towed the raft from Biarritz to Tarbes, with the idea of launching the vessel along the Adour river and paddling the route back to Anglet.

A ride of 750km to take in 27 cols and every iconic Pyrenees climb on a coast-to-coast route – that sounds like a recipe for adventure to us! It’s exactly the trip that Aaron and the British Adventure Collective crew were inspired to take on earlier this year. Aboard an assortment of Datums and Croix de Fers, the quartet set off from the sea near Biarritz, with seven days of riding in store before reaching the coast just outside of Perpignan. We join Aaron as he recollects a particularly steep slope in the Basque Country, where he picks up the story of his adventure.

The Dirty Reiver has become the first real-world gravel event to get a virtual makeover, giving riders the chance to explore Kielder Water and Kielder Forest wherever they are in the world. RGT Cycling, the free to use virtual cycling platform has announced the collaboration, with Genesis ambassadors taking part in to-be-announced virtual group ride events. The new Dirty Reiver road will enable RGT Cycling users to experience gravel riding from home, with in-app functionality aimed at giving a real-life experience virtually. In a world-first, riders will experience real-world impacts on speed, of the road surface being ridden, providing a truly enhanced feel when switching from road to gravel. Our good friends at BikeRadar have been on a bikepacking adventure for their latest Diaries vlog. Gravel regulars Jack and Felix bring along newbie Simon. 

A committed roadie who is usually more at home in a Premier Inn and getting aero at a time trial, Simon is taught the ways of knobbly tyres, many cafe stops and sleeping on the floor. The trio were riding a Tour de Fer 30, Croix de Fer 40 and Fugio 30 to get the full gamut of the gravel experience – hopefully you’ll enjoy going along for the ride…  

If you were to make the ultimate British winter road bike, then we’re pretty sure you’d come up with the Genesis Equilibrium.
