Equilibrium 20

The Equilibrium 20 pairs two of the finest, heritage-laden names in cycling folklore; Reynolds (est. 1923) and Campagnolo (est. 1933), in a stealthy ‘phantom black’ livery that delivers equally in both the looks and performance departments.

The Equilibrium has been a regular face in our line-up since we introduced it back in 2008, winning many-a-fan along the way with its' lightweight and durable heat-treated Reynolds 725 frame, classic looks, full-length mudguard capabilities and sublime ride and handling qualities. A modern classic you might say and every part the quintessential four-season UK road bike.

With a little more relaxed geometry vs. a conventional road race frame, the Equilibrium is our lightweight steel all-rounder, ideally suited to big mile rides where comfort, speed and efficiency are the top priorities. The surefooted geometry, spritely steel frame and lightweight carbon fork work wonders to smooth out and tame the worst of the UK broken roads and will have you descending and cornering like you’re on rails!

Sharing the same Reynolds 725 heat-treated chromoly tubeset as the Equilibrium 30, it pairs up with the more accessible, but equally beautiful 10speed Veloce groupset, finished classic polished silver no less. Unashamedly inspired by the classic JPS/Team Lotus racing colours of old, the Equilibrium 20 makes for a fetching ride but shares similarly practical touches to the rest of the range like the wider tyre and rim spec, rear rack mounts and helpfully wide gear range too (50/34 x 13/29).

Stunning classic good looks in an eminently practical package.

Features

Italy's finest

The irresitable pairing of two of the cycling industry's most iconic brands - Campagnolo’s Veloce alloy groupset complements the Equilibrium's Reynolds 725 frame perfectly - combining classic looks with modern day performance

Reynolds 725

Classic seamless Chromoly (as above) but heat-treated to boost tensile strength. Think of it as Chromoly on steroids. It’s heated to around 1600F whereby a structural change in the steels’ crystal lattice occurs (a stronger, more uniform orientation). As it’s stronger we can away with using less of it so thinner butts are the order of the day here (varying wall thickness down to 0.7/0.4/0.7mm), helping to achieve a lighter overall frame weight.

28c rubber & wide rims

New-school wide (22/17mm) Alex AT-470 rims combined with 28c Conti Grand Sport Race tyres give a vastly improved tyre profile and an increased interior volume, allowing lower pressures and increased comfort without a loss of speed. We've also upgraded to Sapim Race butted spokes help to offset the weight gain of the larger tyres. Try them at 80PSI and see for yourself!

Rack & 'guard ready

Looking to turn the Equilibrium into a daily commuter? No problem - the built-in rear rack mounts, long-drop 57mm brakes and mudgaurd eyelets allow simple and easy fitting
