A slackish head angle combined with a short stem, wide flat bars and a short rear end means that the bike inspires confidence and urges you to push harder. In true Genesis style we have kept hydroforming to a minimum, wherever possible we have used round tubes and tried to focus on engineering rather than aesthetics. Of course simple round tubes happen to look fantastic and we think the Mantles are particularly handsome.
The Mantle 20 and 30 feature a 6069 ALX triple butted alloy frame, the careful selection of tube diameters and wall thicknesses ensures the the frame is light and stiff, yet comfortable enough for long days in the saddle. An XX44 headtube keeps the steering precise and ensures the bike goes where you point it. Both models feature Shimano drivetrains, hubs and brakes throughout, as well as tapered steerer Rockshox air forks. These bikes take over from where the Core 40 and Core 50 left off, however the bigger wheels allow you to roll further and roll faster and provide the confidence to push your limits and progress your riding.
By far the most versatile of headtube standards available, the XX44 headtube ensures full compatibility with different fork steerer tube standards. It also provides a larger weld surface area at both the downtube and toptube junctions to allow for larger diameter tubing and a tube shaping, not to mention increasing front end stiffness, improving tracking and handling. It also allows us to spec a semi-integrated top headset cup - important on 29er's to help keep the front end as low as possible.
The chainstays are 435mm (centre to centre) which is reasonably short, but we haven’t compromised on tyre clearance and mud clearance. By bending the seat tube by 3 degrees the front mech sits well forward of the tyre and mud can pass by easily. We have shaped the chainstay and seatstays to give good mud clearance when using high volume 2.2 inch tyres.
30.9mm seat tube diameter is compatable with dropper posts which seem to be a popular upgrade these days. With this in mind we have included extra cable guides under the top tube for the dropper remote cable.
