Packed and ready

The Arrowhead 135 is close.. I’m ready.. physically, mentally and luggage wise I’m all set. The bags have been packed on the spare bed for a week now.. the bike slipped into its comfy case and was tucked in tight on Monday.
My training hours were massive last week and now we have tapered to nothing… maybe a few light spins but now I’m eating and resting and aim to be a big ball of pent-up cycling frustration when I hit the course at 7am on Monday… maybe the wrong approach to what could be a long game but who knows.
I’m keen, so let’s see what lies in store for me.. this maybe my last blog till after the race unless I can get some web access at the motel.. the start can’t come soon enough now.
Full marks for the Flyer in TriathlonPlus magazine

The Flyer comes out top in Triathlon + magazines single speed road bike test! Going up against names like Charge, Dawes and On-One meant this was a test we really wanted to do well in but ‘best in test’ and full marks in all categories was even better, it seems that they like the new Flyer as much as I do. Triathlon + is from the same publishers as Cycling + and What MTB, regular MTB tester Guy Kesteven ran the test with a team of keen road riders so we were really pleased that they got on so well with the bike.
“The real standout is the Genesis. Its classic looks combine with contemporary geometry and a mix of old and new frame-building techniques. The result is a lightweight, lively and consistently enjoyable ride that charmed all testers” …
DT Swiss – New forks bound for the UK

We’ve just agreed with DT Swiss for our team riders James Leavesley and Paul Errington to ride DT Swiss suspension forks in 2010 / 2011. On their way to the UK are 2011 XRC Cross Race Carbon 100mm all-carbon forks – and not just with carbon lowers, steerers and crowns, these are the World Championship edition models complete with the WC bands!
DT’s forks are all new for 2011 – new designs, new damping systems and improved function and layouts. The confidence of DT in their products is infectious and they were very quick to recommend this fork when we said we had two of the UK’s most demanding Enduro racers on our team – after all, the service intervals are 200hrs and Switzerland gets its fair share of wet, gritty conditions..
ICE 2010 – Testing Times

Less than a month to go till I will be lining up with 135 miles of the bitterly cold Arrowhead Trail ahead of me, I have spent hour after hour trawling websites for any little bit of info that will help me make more educated gear choices but facts and figures mean nothing when the temperature drops and you are literally out in the cold.
With this in mind I have been taking any opportunity to test my gear choices… whether this be out on the bike with different sock combos or bagging up different foods and shoving them in the freezer for the night to see what could be edible after a freeze.

New Year meant one thing to me this year – looking forward to the Alpkit trip to the Ecrins ICE festival - a 3 day ice climbers event in the Ecrins national park where we hoped to do a bit of ice climbing and some snow bike testing..
